how do I get a job at a Beer brewery?
I want a job at some beer plant or brewery. How do I do this? walk in and apply? Or is there websites? I love the smell of beer from the factory and also I heard you get a six pack to take home after work.
Unless you have prior experience working in a brewery, I’d recommend sitting down a few times a week and drinking their beer in the brewpub. Every once in a while, ask to speak to the brewer, if he/she is in. After you get acquainted, tell them that you would like to volunteer around the brewery, ie shoveling grain, cleaning kegs…. etc. Maybe then you will move up to working in the bottleing line or some other menial task. Eventually you might be able to work your way up to something closer to the actual brewer.
Be prepared for long hours and little pay.
It can be a very rewarding experience if you have the patience for it.
Or you could attend a Brewing/fermentaton course at Siebel Institute in Chicago, a fermentation course at Oregon State, or one of the classes at UC Davis.
